Peace Day 2007
SEYCHELLES

All United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The International Day of Peace as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace & Nonviolence in our homes, our communities and between nations. Peace Day has been a focal point for community-uniting and peace-inspiring events since its inception in 1981. Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world, one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day of peace, ever.

organising a collapsed time table day,we want to have a peace wall with messages from all students and teachers of the school.
International Peace and Friendship Commission: As the Secretary-General of the Commission, I shall be giving an interview with the Press and special message will feature in the main local newspaper on the island. The same Peace message will be read during an activity which is being held late afternoon on 21 September. A Peace Dance will be performed by the Youth Group of International Friendship League (IFL). After that, invited guests will be asked to sign a Peace petition which will be taken are of by a local NGO called "Universal Peace Forum". The above activity will end with a "Peace Song" by the UPF group. Please note that our activity for that special Day will not end on 21 September as the Commission has scheduled a "Peace Sport Event" to coincide with the arrival of 'PEACE BOAT' to our shores on 22 November 2006. Passengers on the PEACE BOAT will take part in this activity with local NGO members of the Peace Commission, Friendship League and UPF. At the end of the activity, one of the Ambassadors of Peace, that is, members of UPF, will address the visitors before departing our port that same evening.

National Council for Children: We will be holding a Peace conference targeting youth where we will use the occasion to raise awareness. We will have the conference on the main island and take it to another island the following week. We are also planning an open air Peace concert on one of the neighbouring islands on the following Saturday. I hope that our small contribution can help make a little difference to creating a better world. The national Council for Children is actively involved in promoting the Living Values programme which is an International organisation registered in Geneva and schools which have the programme mark the international day for peace by some small activity at school level. I wish you and all the member states all the success in this important sensitisation and commitment.
