Peace
Day 2007
SERBIA & MONTENEGRO

All United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The International Day of Peace
as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace & Nonviolence in our homes,
our communities and between nations. Peace Day has been a focal point
for community-uniting and peace-inspiring events since its inception
in 1981.
Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world,
one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To
Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day
of peace, ever.

EVENT:
The GPKT Youth Council - a cross-border multiethnic organisation of
youth from Gjilan/Gnjilane (Kosovo), Presevo (Serbia), Kumanovo (Macedonia)
and Trgoviste (Serbia), supported by the EastWest Institute, will
mark the International Peace Day with a peace activity in the Presevo
highschool. The youth will travel across borders to spend the day
together, draw a canvas for peace, distribute publications and white
baloons. 500 white baloons with the "International Peace Day"
stamp will fly into the sky to send a message for peace and non-violence
in Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia and the whole world. |
Anti Trafficking Centre: As a non-governmental organization which
is active in the field of combating human trafficking in the broadest
possible sense, together with men we use the expert knowledge that
we have accumulated in order to continue operating as a center which
organizes lectures and gives information to women, girls and vulnerable
men, including men as allies in the struggle against gender-based
violence, as it is one of the main causes of trafficking and inequality
in general. At the same time we operate as a training center for governmental
and non-governmental organizations. We invite all those inspired by
the concepts and values of human rights, of sexes, of all races, ages,
abilities, ethnic, religious or national background or sexual orientation.
We will contribute to creating a safe space in which anti-patriarchal
attitudes will be primarily asserted as equally valid in our society.
We will do our best to contribute to the September 21st activities.
We would be very glad to show the Peace One Day documentary to many
young people that we work with.
