United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The
International Day of Peace as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace &
Nonviolence in our homes, our communities and between nations. Peace
Day has been a focal point for community-uniting and peace-inspiring
events since its inception in 1981.
Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world,
one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To
Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day
of peace, ever.
YOU
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
- Ask
your favorite organization, group or religious institution to support
the International Day of Peace
- Plan or attend a Peace Day Event in
your community (scheduled events include concerts, parades, marches,
fasts, conferences, festivals, gatherings, service projects, ceremonies,
children's activities such as peace art & essay contests and pinwheels
for peace, Peace Day parties and peace vigils)
- Ask
your Mayor, City Council, Governor and Head of State to declare a Proclamation
of Peace
- Print
out Flyers, Posters and other Resources

MOSCOW
Museum of Peacekeeping Operations, Moscow: will be marking the Day
with a ceremony at Poklonnaya Gora near the monument of Antifascist
Coalition with the 4 sculptures representing Soviet, British, French
and American soldiers - liberators. More information to follow.

Association
of Girl-scouts of Russia: I am writing to inform you that we will
support you on the 21st of September. We are going do the following
activities: Include the Day in our organisation’s newsletter; Contact
local media and offer them information about Peace Day to broadcast.
Give a copy of the film, Peace One Day, to people we know who are
in a position to show it to others, Designate a peace corner in
the library. Create a Peace Wall of paper bricks with non-violent
messages. Walk a special path, speaking of peace along the way,
arriving on Peace Day. Make a special peace cake to share. Do the
exhibition of children`s drawings on the topic. Arrange a street
party with children and some other activities
