United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The
International Day of Peace as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace &
Nonviolence in our homes, our communities and between nations. Peace
Day has been a focal point for community-uniting and peace-inspiring
events since its inception in 1981.
Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world,
one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To
Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day
of peace, ever.
YOU
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
- Ask
your favorite organization, group or religious institution to support
the International Day of Peace
- Plan or attend a Peace Day Event in
your community (scheduled events include concerts, parades, marches,
fasts, conferences, festivals, gatherings, service projects, ceremonies,
children's activities such as peace art & essay contests and pinwheels
for peace, Peace Day parties and peace vigils)
- Ask
your Mayor, City Council, Governor and Head of State to declare a Proclamation
of Peace
- Print
out Flyers, Posters and other Resources

Academia
Británica Cuscatleca: The Academia Británica Cuscatleca – a PreKinder
to 12th grade British School in El Salvador, will be marking this
day of peace on September 21st. Several activities are planned for
the day on the themes of peace and non violence so as to raise consciousness
about these vital values amongst our school community.

Sistema
De La Integracion Centroamericana: It is my pleasure to address
you concerning the establishment of the day for global ceasefire
and non-violence on the occasion of the UN International Day of
Peace, dated September 21 annually. As Secretary General of the
Central American Integration system, (SICA). I am considering this
initiative with special interest and I will instruct the corresponding
unit of the Secretariat, to prepare a commemorating message, on
the above mentioned day in order to make it as widely known as possible.
