All United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The International Day of Peace
as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace & Nonviolence in our homes,
our communities and between nations. Peace Day has been a focal point
for community-uniting and peace-inspiring events since its inception
in 1981.
Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world,
one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To
Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day
of peace, ever.
YOU
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
- Ask
your favorite organization, group or religious institution to support
the International Day of Peace
- Plan or attend a Peace Day Event in
your community (scheduled events include concerts, parades, marches,
fasts, conferences, festivals, gatherings, service projects, ceremonies,
children's activities such as peace art & essay contests and pinwheels
for peace, Peace Day parties and peace vigils)
- Ask
your Mayor, City Council, Governor and Head of State to declare a Proclamation
of Peace
- Print
out Flyers, Posters and other Resources

The
Union of Comoros have
instituted a national commission for the UN International Day of
Peace.
Decree
Article
1: A national commission for the UN International Day of Peace
designated hereafter as ‘National Commission’.
Article
2: Placed under the Social Affairs Ministry’s authority, its
president, ‘National Commission’ is responsible for:
- The
preparation and celebration of 21/09 annually, UN International
Day of Peace.
- The
acknowledgement and motivation of the people, and the administration
to celebrate the day.
Article
3: Other than the President the ‘National Commission’ is made
up of:
- Youth
Consul, representing the Union’s presidency.
- Cabinet
Head and Vice President in charge of the Justice Ministry.
- National
Head of Civil Security, represented by the external Defence Ministry
- Representatives
of the Comorien Red Cross
- The
Forum on Women and Development
Article
4: The present decree will be registered, published in the official
newspaper and forwarded to all relevant parties.
