Peace Day
BAHRAIN

All United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The International Day of Peace as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace & Nonviolence in our homes, our communities and between nations. Peace Day has been a focal point for community-uniting and peace-inspiring events since its inception in 1981. Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world, one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day of peace, ever.

MUHARRAQ
Ria Institute:
At RIA Institute itself we intend to create a giant pinwheel. This will be made of material and carry messages of hope, peace and love from our students and their families. It will be placed in the front garden and surrounded by small pinwheels created by the children. We will hold our own personal prayer circle in the school garden, which will also be decorated with prayer flags and small doves of peace. Our students will spend a week baking small cakes. These will all be decorated with white icing and carry the word Peace in one of many languages on them. They will be distributed around other special education institutes in Bahrain as a gesture of love and unity in diversity. We hope to join with local artists and poets for an evening of art and poetry where we will all create prayer flags with messages and artwork on them. We will be trying to bring in members of as many religious communities as we can. We will also be inviting schools to create their own Peace Day celebrations at their own premises this year. We are going to start negotiations with different airlines in the region to see if we can persuade more of them to carry small peace doves decorated with messages of peace and unity on the 21st September. The main thrust of our efforts this year is to get a small "Peace Play" that I have drafted, up and running. We will be speaking to the Deaf Institute and try to persuade them to have their students perform the play. We will then invite other schools to watch the play. As it is a mime play, it will be easy for us to provide translated commentaries and for it to be signed. Lastly we will be encouraging religious communities to hold their own prayer circles and ceremonies on the day
