All United Nations member countries agreed to celebrate September 21, The International Day of Peace as a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace & Nonviolence in our homes, our communities and between nations. Peace Day has been a focal point for community-uniting and peace-inspiring events since its inception in 1981. Together we can create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world, one heart, one family, one community at a time. Join the Countdown To Peace and help inspire your community to create humanity's first day of peace, ever.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

  • Ask your favorite organization, group or religious institution to support the International Day of Peace
  • Plan or attend a Peace Day Event in your community (scheduled events include concerts, parades, marches, fasts, conferences, festivals, gatherings, service projects, ceremonies, children's activities such as peace art & essay contests and pinwheels for peace, Peace Day parties and peace vigils)
  • Ask your Mayor, City Council, Governor and Head of State to declare a Proclamation of Peace
  • Print out Flyers, Posters and other Resources

One of the hundreds of ENO Schools (Environment Online) that will plant trees for the International Day of Peace as a symbol for environmental protection, international co-operation, cultural diversity, tolerance and peace. (http://eno.joensuu.fi/treeceremony.htm)
Intelektualet e rinj, Shprese (IRSH): we are planning to organise an International summer camp with the participation of young people from all over Europe and many volunteers from Albania with the topic Active Citizenship and Participation so we thought we could organise that event in the framework of Peace One Day.

Albanian Youth Alliance: We can show that film you prepared in a big place and the entrance is for free. We also can invite some personalities of foreign delegations and students to discuss in English about the war and conflicts in the world. Another part of activities, I think that is a big campaign with posters and peaceful protest to say to the people to give their illegal guns to the authorities. Because in Albania we had a civil war during 1997 and there are about 500.000 illegal guns in the hands of civic people.
