or attend a Peace Day Event
in your community (scheduled events include concerts, parades, marches, fasts,
conferences, festivals, gatherings, service projects, ceremonies, children's activities
such as peace art & essay contests and pinwheels for peace, Peace Day parties
and peace vigils)
- Ask
your Mayor, City Council, Governor and President to declare a Proclamation

Alliance for Peace and Justice will hold these events in recognition of the International
Day of Peace. 5:30 p.m. -- A covered dish supper will be held at the
Auburn Universalist Unitarian Fellowship at 450 E. Thach, Auburn, Alabama.
6:30 p.m. -- A free movie will be shown: "Why We Fight". (same location
as above) 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. -- A vigil will be held at Toomer's Corner
at the intersection of Magnolia and North College. Bring candles if you wish.

Sept. 21, 2006 @ 7 pm Music for Peace and Justice Church of the Reconciler,
12 14th Street, North, Birmingham This is the first in a series of concerts
being presented by the Birmingham Peace Project. This event is in recognition
of September 21 as International Day of Peace; the theme is the struggle for peace.
The musicians will be Looney Mill; Carlito of the Deep End; The Wall Street Traitors;
Ricky Castrillo, Ray Whirlwind & Tommie Joe White; Reconciler Praise; and more.
The event is free and open to the public. Street parking is available. Donations
will be accepted. |

unity with The International Day of Peace, Fairhope Friends Meeting will hold
a Peace Vigil and Meeeting to Pray for Peace, September 21st at the Friends Meeting
House, 9261 Fairhope Ave., Fairhope,Al., from 7:30 to 8:30 P.M. The candlelight
vigil will begin as a traditional Friends Meeting, waiting in expectant and prayerful
silence. Prior to the Peace Vigil, from 6:30 to 7:30, there will be a time of
reading and discussion of the Friends Peace Testimony. All are invited. Call 251-945-1130

are now several groups planning activities in Huntsville, Alabama. The Light of
Christ Center, Center for Conscious Living, Unity Church on the Mountain, and
the Botanical Gardens are each planning special services, ceremonies, and rededications
of the Peace Poles erected by each organization. There are 3 New Thought churches
in town and we will have a "Peace Pole Pilgrimage" beginning at the Center
for Conscious Living at 7:00 on the 21st, then at The Light of Christ Center at
7:00pm on Friday evening, the 22nd (included in our Equinox Celebration &
ceremony around our Peace Pole), then at the Botanical Gardens we will dedicate
their Peace Pole at 10:00am on Saturday the 23rd, and then end our "Pilgrimage"
at Unity Church on the Mountain" at 1:00pm on Sunday around their Peace Pole.
We feel that this will be a wonderful pilgrimage for our community. All are invited
to attend each of these ceremonies. |

Thursday, September 21 from 6-9 PM, NAPN will hold a Peace Vigil on the
steps of the Madison County Courthouse in downtown Huntsville. September 21 is
the International Day of Peace, and there will be thousands of other demonstrations
worldwide. For us, this will also be a special day since it is the 4th anniversary
of the first NAPN vigil in September, 2002. There will be several performances,
singing and opportunities to speak out. Please join us for any portion of the
